“During my time working with Wing, I saw her deliver countless projects that leveraged her broad content marketing, strategy and design background. I can’t recommend Wing enough for any position, especially one focused on content strategy, design, and delivery.”

Rob McBroom – Web Engagement Manager, Electronic Arts

Life story

Before I set foot in content design without me realising it, I started my career as a contract credit risks analyst for a global bank’s credit card business based in Singapore after graduating from journalism in Hong Kong. An industry and discipline I never imagine I’d touch on.

Hoping to navigate though the creative industry on content and design, I reached out to an agency and became their part-time copywriter producing video and radio ads for FMCG clients. After a while, I joined a documentary SME full-time. As part of the team working with big names of distributors and broadcasters across APAC to produce video content and documentary summits, my focus was on video script and research writing, and co-productions project management. Three years after, I landed a job with a global media firm to manage and optimise its news database content. Along the way, I learned computer languages and information architecture required to perform the job and became interested in programming. It was an eye-opening experience.

Fast-forward to relocating to Hong Kong. There were bumps along the way but happy bumps! I had to pick up programmatic media buying during the time with a performance marketing agency – again, something new to my profile back then. The experience reinforced my career aspirations that content and design are my things. Fortunately, I had the opportunity to create content experiences for all digital assets of a digital insurance company with full autonomy. And shortly after, I became a content strategist creating, managing and governing content for a global bank’s website and mobile web focusing on the Hong Kong retail bank market. Wearing multiple hats during my time there, including UX designer and UX researcher, allowed me to immerse myself in the world of user experience. I have enjoyed every minute of it.

Now I’m a content designer based in Singapore, crafting user experiences for the website, mobile apps, and digital platforms of a private bank. The skills I have accumulated over the past more than 10 years come into use comprehensively – both technical and soft.

My design principles

Accessible. Straightforward. Consistent. I strive to create inclusive and clear content for everyone with users’ time and context fully considered, and build user trust and familiarity with consistency across touch-points.

What has been guiding and motivating me to uphold these principles? Quoting my favourite line from Jeffery Zeldman: “Design in the absence of content is not design, it’s decoration.” So do my five personal values that keep me moving despite complex or ambiguous nature – curiosity, empathy, collaboration, determination, and making a difference.

Outside of work

Nature is my source of calm and inspiration. I can never get bored of hiking, camping, or simply strolling through the river. And I’d make my house showered with greens. You will find me indulging myself in capturing moments with my Fujifilm X-Pro2 and Nikon FM2. When I’m not in active mode enjoying jogging and yoga, I visit art galleries, or turn on jazz music to accompany the read, podcasts, and learning a new language, while sipping my favourite long black.
